Farms that produce potatoes, vegetables, fruit, and berries that need foreign labor will be included in a new government documentation scheme.

“We are in a demanding situation with great infection pressure and the need for strict entry control.

“The documentation scheme for the green industry will provide quality assurance that will be of good assistance to the border authority during entry control,” Minister of Agriculture and Food Olaug Bollestad (KrF) noted in a press release.

She says that the new scheme will provide a good basis for assessing whether the rules for granting exemptions from the entry restrictions have been met.

Immediate implementation

Companies that produce or package potatoes, vegetables, fruit, or berries can submit information on their needs for foreign labor.

However, the border personnel will be the ones to make the final decision on whether employees are allowed to enter the country, the guidelines emphasize.

The scheme is going to be administered by the Norwegian Directorate of Agriculture and will be implemented immediately.
