A foreign citizen who was visiting friends in Møre og Romsdal, was expelled from Norway on Wednesday after violating the quarantine conditions.

The man has also been banned from entering for two years, reports Møre og Romsdal police district.

The man came to Norway from Germany via the Netherlands by plane, and was deported after he did not comply with the order for ten days entry quarantine.

– “We hereby want to give a clear signal that the police and other authorities take seriously violations of the quarantine provisions,” says Svein Rike, section leader immigration and border control in Møre og Romsdal police district.

-The man also accepted a fine of 20,000 kroner for violating the Infection Control Act. He was sent out of Norway on the same day.

The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration emphasizes that compliance with entry quarantines is a very important measure to prevent and limit the further spread of Covid-19 in Norway.

The guidelines for entry quarantine are largely a trust-based system where the individual is responsible for following these. When people deliberately break the guidelines, despite the fact that they are familiar with them, there is a lack of respect both for the quarantine provisions and for public health, it is stated in a press release from the police.
