Foreign Minister Brende will visit Indonesia on Monday and Tuesday. The main objective of the visit is political consultations with the Indonesian government.
– Indonesia is an important partner for us on many global issues. Norway cooperates with Indonesia on issues such as the UN reform and global education. Indonesia is also an interesting interlocutor on regional economic and political issues, Brende says.
He will also open the Norwegian-Indonesian human rights dialogue with his Indonesian colleague Retno Marsudi. During the visit, the foreign minister will meet with several Indonesian ministers and also meet with representatives of the Norwegian industry.
– The partnership with ASEAN is very beneficial for Norway. It gives us access to important political arenas and improves Norwegian companies’ opportunities in Southeast Asian markets, says Brende.
Norway was granted a formal partnership with the Southeast Asian cooperation organization ASEAN during the meeting of the ASEAN foreign ministers in Kuala Lumpur in August last year.
