The longtime Conservative (H) politician Kjellaug Nakkim died on Monday at 81 years old.

Nakkim’s family reported her death on Monday night, the newspaper Moss Avis writes.

Kjellaug Nakkim was elected to the Norwegian parliament (Storting) as a permanent representative of Østfold Høyre in 1989 after a period as deputy representative. She then held three consecutive terms in the Storting for Østfold until 2001.

She sat on Moss City Council from 1976 to 1987 and on the County Council in Østfold from 1984 to 1995. Nakkim also chaired the Broadcasting Council from 2006 to 2009.

In 2012, she became an honorary member of Østfold Conservatives.

“It is with sadness that we have received the message that Kjellaug Nakkim is dead. I worked closely with Kjellaug in the 1990s,” Erna Solberg told Moss Avis.
