Former United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright dies at 84

Madeleine Albright, the United States’ first female Secretary of State, has died. She was 84 years old.

In a statement on Twitter, her family wrote that she died on Wednesday as a result of cancer.

Albright was born in Prague in former Czechoslovakia in 1937 and came to the United States as a refugee in 1948.

She distinguished herself as a respected secretary of state and helped shape US foreign policy after the Cold War.
