The man who was charged with attempted murder in Fredrikstad on Saturday is said to have tried to kill his wife, according to the police. He denies criminal guilt.

“The victim suffered stab wounds, but I cannot go into the details… As of now, we have only conducted preliminary interviews,” Mohsen Latif in the Eastern Police District told NTB during the weekend.

The people involved in the case are adults. The victim is out of life-threatening danger, according to Latif.

“She has had an operation and has completed a short interview,” he noted.

The defendant’s defense attorney, Vigdis Brandstorp, confirmed that the client denies criminal guilt for attempted murder and says the prison sentence will be appealed.

“He petitioned to be released and did not consent to imprisonment. The ruling was appealed to the Court of Appeal on the spot,” she told the newspaper Fredriksstad Blad.

According to Fredriksstad Blad, the appeal will probably be heard by the Court of Appeal on Monday.
