Gjerdrum landslide: Multiple survivors feel overlooked

Multiple Gjerdrum landslide survivors say the follow-up after the disaster a year ago was not good enough.

Tom Ottar Holte is among those who would like to hear more from the Municipality. He and his wife Elin barely managed to save their lives, but the house next door disappeared in the landslide. One of the residents there died.

“We have a resource center in Gjerdrum, it took some time, but we have received very good help there. But we have not heard from the Municipality in general. We would have liked it if they got in touch to hear how we were doing or ask if there is anything they could do to contribute,” he told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Østensen: Many people are very happy

Mayor Anders Østensen is aware that some of the residents feel they have not received good enough follow-up.

“But the big picture is that many people are very happy, especially with the psychosocial team, which is also part of the Municipality,” he said, pointing out that the Municipality has spent a lot of resources on staffing the team.

Gjerdrum will mark the one-year anniversary of the incident today, in memory of the ten people who lost their lives.
