In a letter sent by Minister of Local Government and Modernization Bjørn Arild Gram to Troms og Finnmark County Municipality, the government gives the green light for the dissolution of the county.
“It clearly states that now the two (old) counties will re-emerge. We can start the process,” SP leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum said in his speech to the national board meeting of the Center Party (SP) on Friday afternoon.
The letter from Gram states that the government will facilitate the dissolution of forcibly merged municipalities and counties that wish to do so.
It appears that the government will send its case to the Storting with a proposal to approve the submitted application when it comes to Troms og Finnmark.
Gram further stated that the government would shortly provide information on how the work of dividing the forcibly merged municipalities and county municipalities will take place.
