Ullevål hospital will be closed down and a new regional hospital will be built at Gaustad and a local hospital at Aker, the healthcare minister Bent Høie has decided.
The Board of Health South East last week decided to close down Ulleval Hospital and build a new, large hospital at Gaustad. But the plans needed to get ” the stamp of approval” by Health Minister Bent Høie (H) before it was finally approved.
They got that on Friday, when the Minister of Health and Minister of Finance Siv Jensen gave an account of the future hospital structure in the Oslo region.
– This is an important day. After many years of discussion, I now want to make a binding decision as to how the hospital structure in the Oslo region will be in the future. It is important for both patients and staff that we have come to a conclusion, says Høie.
