Greenpeace criticizes Equinor top official

Greenpeace does not like that Equinor top official Irene Rummelhoff believes that oil opponents should be partially blamed for the energy crisis in Europe, the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv writes.

“The energy crisis in Europe is not caused by the war, but underinvestment in energy,” Rummelhoff said during a session at the ONS energy fair in Stavanger last week. She pointed to low oil and gas prices as the main reason for the underinvestment but added that it was reinforced by “rhetoric from politicians, investors, and other actors.”

Greenpeace interpreted this as a critique of the environmental movement and reacted strongly.

The way I see it, this is a cheap blow aimed at the environmental movement, expert adviser Halvard Raavand in Greenpeace Norway told Dagens Næringsliv.

But he is happy to take some of the credit for the change in investments.

“Yes, the environmental movement has been successful in turning investments from oil to renewables, but it has not been successful enough,” Raavand said.

Press contact Magnus Frantzen Eidsvold in Equinor told DN that Rummelhoff did not make a specific statement about climate organizations or oil opponents.

“She participated in a dialogue about the causes of the global energy crisis. She pointed out that for a long time before Russia invaded Ukraine, there had been underinvestment in all forms of energy,” Eidsvold noted.

  1. Big Lie No. 1: Kyiv 2014 was *not* a Western-backed COUP which expectedly triggered Russian counter-moves culminating in this openly US&NATO vs. Russia Ukraine War.
Big Lie No. 2: “The energy crisis in Europe is not caused by the war, ….”

Such lies lead into world wars.
