Greta Thunberg criticized world leaders and their climate efforts during a major climate summit for young people in Milan.

In a speech on Tuesday, she parodied British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other political leaders who say they prioritize climate action.

“Blah, blah, blah, green economy, blah, blah, blah, net-zero emissions by 2050, blah, blah, blah, climate neutral, blah, blah blah,” Thunberg said.

“This is all we hear from our so-called leaders: words, words that sound nice, but which so far have not led to action. Our hopes and dreams drown in their empty words and promises.”

Climate emissions and global warming have been a political issue in Western countries since the early 1990s. Nevertheless, global climate emissions continue to rise.

More than 400 youth activists from almost every country in the world will attend the Youth4Climate meeting in Milan, ahead of the climate summit in Glasgow later this year.
