A physical therapist has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for abusing his position to have sexual intercourse with patients.

According to the verdict, the man in his 40s had sexual intercourse with a number of female patients and colleagues at his own clinic in Gudbrandsdalen for several years.

He has now been convicted in Sør-Gudbrandsdal District Court for abusing his position to have sexual intercourse with four of the patients and for touching a fifth patient.

In addition, he has been convicted of abusing a woman who worked for his family.

Has to pay NOK 500,000 in compensation

The man is also sentenced to pay the women a total of around NOK 500,000 in reparation and compensation.

The man did not plead guilty. He believes that all the cases in which he has acknowledged sexual contact have taken place with consent.

The man’s defender, lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen, told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the man is appealing the verdict.

“He is surprised and disappointed with the verdict,” she noted.
