Health director Bjørn Guldvog warns that 2022 may be another year without children’s parades and large crowds on May 17.

The coronavirus crisis has characterized Norway’s National Day celebration for two years.

After the country’s reopening in September, it looked like Norwegians could get a more normal celebration this year.

“I’m not so sure now. We could have another year without children’s parades and large crowds on May 17,” Guldvog told P4.

Among other things, the omicron variant and the many uncertainties associated with it will determine National Day celebrations this year, NTB notes.
