According to Opinion’s Norwegian Corona Monitor, 51 per cent say they believe that they will essentially stay in their own homes on National Day, 17th May.

“But far more people plan to be outdoors or visit others after the authorities began to reopen society, and eased the restrictions on how many people we can be with,” says senior adviser Ola Gaute Aas Askheim at Opinion.

On 7th May, the authorities changed the guidelines and now allow meetings of up to 20 people privately. 50 people are allowed at public events. After the changes, the proportion that will celebrate the day outdoors has almost tripled.

In April, 11 per cent responded that they would not be home on 17th May. Now that figure is 30 per cent. The amount of people who are unsure has increased from 19 to 24 per cent in the same period.
