A total of 24 new corona infection cases have been registered in Hammerfest, and the municipal doctor and the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) now recommend that the Municipality extends its strict corona measures by one more week.

A total of 283 people in the Municipality have now been diagnosed with coronavirus, Mayor Marianne Sivertsen Næss (AP) told newspaper iFinnmark.

On Tuesday, Hammerfest authorities extended the local regulations on infection control measures, which now apply until Sunday at 24 o’clock.

At a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Sivertsen Næss said that the municipal doctor and the FHI recommended keeping corona measures in place until Sunday, June 8, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

Shops, gyms, swimming pools, and many other places in Hammerfest have been closed in the last week, and all residents have been asked to stay at home as much as possible.

About 2,500 close contacts of infected people were in quarantine in Hammerfest on Saturday.
