Hammerfest Hospital raised its emergency preparedness to the yellow level due to positive corona tests from three inpatients at the medical department.

“The source of infection is currently unknown, and infection detection work is underway,” the Finnmark Hospital health trust, which Hammerfest Hospital is part of, wrote on its website.

Two of the infected patients have now been discharged from the hospital.

Inpatients and staff at the ward are being tested to identify the source of infection. At the same time, the department is temporarily closed to visitors. In other departments, visits must be arranged in advance.

Patients from Western Finnmark (with the exception of Hammerfest and Måsøy) who need immediate help and admission to a medical ward, are sent to other wards or Kirkenes Hospital.

Finnmark Hospital emphasized that it is safe to come to the hospital. There is no suspicion of infection in other wards at Hammerfest Hospital.
