Light is positive and creates everyday joy, psychologist and happiness researcher Ragnhild Bang Nes at FHI noted. She encourages people to hang up Christmas lights.

“I think light puts us in a very good mood, and we need that now when we can’t gather as we did before,” Bang Nes told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

She believes that lights are an easy way to create everyday joy.

“If everyone hangs up the Christmas lights now, we show that we are waiting for corona-free times,” the researcher said.

During Wednesday’s corona press conference, Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) also encouraged people to hang up Christmas lights on windows.

“I think we must do more of this in the future. Hang a star or heart on the window. Do something that helps both you and others get through a dark month,” Høie said.
