The coastal cruise ship Havila Capella has been prevented from sailing out from Bergen following sanctions against Russia. The entire round trip is now canceled.

“Havila Kystruten has been forced to cancel the Bergen – Kirkenes – Bergen tour due to the Norwegian authorities’ assessment that the ship’s insurance triggers sanctions,” the company wrote in a stock exchange announcement on Thursday.

According to the company, the coastal cruise ship has been stranded in Bergen due to the sanctions against Russia, which has created uncertainty about the insurance coverage.

The passenger ship came in from Ålesund to Bergen a little after noon on Tuesday and was scheduled to sail north again along the coast from Bergen on Tuesday night.

A total of 232 passengers have been stranded there in the past few days.

“The passengers on board will receive assistance for their return journeys as soon as possible, and travelers will be refunded their tickets. Havila Kystruten strongly apologizes for the inconvenience to both passengers and the coastal population,” the stock exchange announcement further stated.
