Heavy rainfall over parts of Eastern Sweden has created floods and caused havoc in the city of Gävle. Now the rain is on its way to Trøndelag, where floods and landslides are expected.

“The low-pressure area that has created flooding in Gävle in Sweden is on its way to Trøndelag,” the Meteorological Institute warned on Twitter on Wednesday.

The meteorologists have issued out a yellow danger warning for floods, landslides, and rain.

Danger warning

The danger of flooding is expected from Thursday morning, and the warning will remain in place until Friday morning. Local floods are expected, and people are asked to secure and move valuables away from basements, cars, and the like.

People are also asked to avoid steep slopes due to the danger of landslides. Roads could be closed as a result of the weather, and the areas in Nord-Trøndelag will be the most exposed, according to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).

On Wednesday, the downpour caused roads to collapse in several places in the area around the Swedish city of Gävle.
