Helse Bergen has begun to prepare to be able to receive patients from Ukraine.

“We have been notified that patients could come to Norway in a few days,” Helse Bergen director Eivind Hansen told the newspaper Bergens Tidende.

He says that they have a lot of work to do before receiving patients, but that it is important to put in the effort in the context of the demanding situation in Ukraine.

On Tuesday, the Norwegian government sent out a press release in which the Minister of Health Ingvild Kjerkol (AP) opened up to the notion of transporting patients from the areas surrounding Ukraine by plane.

The Minister estimated that Norway has the capacity to receive around 550 patients and opened up to increase capacity further if necessary.

“We are willing to do what we can to contribute,” Hansen said.
