Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) says that the government could have been better at reaching out to immigrants with information about the coronavirus.

Høie told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that immigrants have been particularly vulnerable during the pandemic.

“We could have been better at reaching out (to them) with information. We could have started working earlier on younger people with parents who have an immigrant background,” Høie noted.

He pointed out first-generation immigrants, who may lack Norwegian knowledge or do not follow the Norwegian media.

“We could have mobilized their children to a greater extent earlier. A lot has been done well, but we could have been even better at this,” he concluded.
