Hopes for fee settlement within budget

A speedy solution is not in sight, but the four non-socialist parties hope to find a solution together on green fees until the state budget is submitted.

Thursday is the summit with the prime minister.

The key issue remains the environmental tax on diesel and petrol. Left and Christian Democrats believe the tax should be increased in line with the principle that it should be more expensive to pollute, while Progress so far has rejected the claim.

Thursday the negotiations on a green tax shift was brought right to the top of bourgeois cooperation.

Then the four party leaders meet for talks with Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

The hope is to get a good bit further in negotiations, but completing the objective will hardly happen. The parties are still far apart – just days before the government’s final budget conference next week.
