A man in his 60s has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison in Hordaland District Court for aggravated sexual assault against three boys between 2007 and 2019.

In addition, the man must pay a total of NOK 450,000 in reparation to the three victims. Prosecutor Magne Kvamme Sylta asked for ten years in prison.

The man was reported last spring and charged in April this year. He pleaded guilty when the trial began in late April. His defender, lawyer Fredrik Verling, told the newspaper Bergens Tidende that the verdict was expected.

“I do not think there will be an appeal,” he told the newspaper.

According to the prosecution, the man has exploited a relationship of trust through friendship or neighborhood with the victims’ parents. One of the victims said in court that the abuse began when he was around ten years old in connection with an overnight visit to the man. The abuse continued for the next five years.

“There were around 40-50 assaults in his apartment,” the young man said, according to BT.
