Hospital in Stockholm establishes permanent corona ward
Södersjukhuset in Stockholm is establishing a department that will be able to focus exclusively on COVID-19 treatment. The department is expected to be permanent.
“We are establishing a completely new department that will be able to adjust and become a corona department in just one hour. We believe that we will have to treat patients with corona for a long time to come. It is good to have a long-term solution in place,” department director Annelie Liljegren told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
There are currently 98 patients with coronavirus in the hospitals in the Stockholm region, of which 16 are receiving intensive care.
Södersjukhuset believes that the number will increase.
