An imam in Drammen has been reported for hate speech and incitement to criminal activity due to his posts on Facebook.

The man has been an imam in Drammen since 2009. He has been reported by a private person, the newspaper Drammens Tidende writes.

The report refers to several of the imam’s posts on Facebook, all of which contained harsh statements about Jews and Israel.

Drammens Tidende has published parts of the posts but reserved the right to minor errors as the articles have been translated from Urdu.

The newspaper has confirmed that the Southeastern Police District is familiar with the reported matter.

The imam apologizes to Drammens Tidende for the Facebook posts. He said, among other things, that they do not represent his views and what he stands for and that the posts were published in frustration over attacks in Gaza. The posts have been deleted.
