In June, there were 2,984 inmates in Norwegian prisons – 722 were foreign nationals

There were 2,984 inmates in Norwegian prisons at the turn of the month June/July. Out of 2,984, 146 are women, and the rest are men.

Seven inmates were under 18, according to monthly figures from the Norwegian Correctional Service (Kriminalomsorgen).

As of June 30, capacity utilization in prisons was 82%. A total of 141 men and eight women have been sentenced to preventive detention. 

A total of 722 of the prisoners were foreign nationals.
