Increase in imports of hydroxychloroquine to Norway

The Customs Administration is seeing an increase in illegal drug imports, including the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine that Donald Trump says he is using against Covid-19.

The Customs Service says that they do not have exact numbers, but that they are experiencing a “significant increase” in the number of medicines ordered from abroad.

– “Much of what is coming is written in Chinese, but we manage to translate it well enough that we see that it is the malaria medicine referred to as the “Trump medicine”. There are also broad-spectrum antibiotics, and ultimately HIV medicine,” says Lars Teigen, head of the Tolletaten office at the Eastland terminal, to Adresseavisen.

US President Trump said on Monday that he regularly takes hydroxychloroquine in the belief that it should protect against the Coronavirus, although it is not scientifically proven to be effective.
