The Norwegian Police Directorate has evaluated the police’s handling of the corona pandemic. Among its conclusions, the Police Directorate notes that increased border control came at the expense of other important tasks.

“The report recommends that strategic management in the police should review scenarios of the most relevant crisis events and discuss how the police can prepare in the future,” a press release from the Police Directorate notes.

Not surprisingly, some groups of police employees have been heavily burdened during the pandemic period, including first-line employees and contingency planners.

The report points out that, moving forward, expectations one can have for police assistance should be clarified.

At the same time, the report points to many things that have worked well. Crisis management has generally worked well, and cooperation between different units was also good.
