Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide is scheduled to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow before the summer.

The last time the two met was in Kirkenes in October last year in connection with the 75-year celebration since Soviet soldiers liberated East Finnmark from German occupation.

Lavrov then invited Eriksen Søreide to Moscow, and now it has been confirmed from the Norwegian side that the visit will take place during the first half of the year.

In a letter to Lavrov dated February 12th, Eriksen Søreide herself wrote that she looks forward to visiting Moscow.

VG reports that the meeting will be held in June. NTB confirmed that this is the plan for the time being, but that the final date has not been set.

Last year, Norway and Russia also put a new two-year consultation plan in place. There, regular talks are arranged at both the secretary of state level and at the official level.
