Soon, almost the entire adult population on Svalbard will be fully vaccinated. At the same time, the chief infection control officer asks unvaccinated older adults not to come to the archipelago.

According to the newspaper Svalbardposten, more than 90% of Svalbard’s population in the age group over 18 will be fully vaccinated by June 10. That makes up around 75% of the population.

“I do not think about vaccines anymore. We are done,” infection control chief Knut Selmer in Longyearbyen told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

When it comes to visitors to the archipelago, he believes that those over 60 should be vaccinated.

However, he does not think it will be a problem because most 60-year-olds in Norway will be vaccinated during the summer.
