In the last 24 hours, 125 new cases of corona infection have been registered in Trondheim.

Forty-one of the newly infected people are under 20 years old, the Municipality stated in a press release on Friday.

After a long period of high infection rates in Trondheim, the Municipality tightened the corona rules on Wednesday.

It introduced the mandatory use of face masks on public transport by bus and in shops and malls where people can’t keep at least one meter of distance from others. The mandate also applies to medical centers and emergency rooms.

In addition, primary schools have to continue applying the so-called traffic light model, and the requirement for face masks in taxis for drivers and passengers also continues to apply.

The measures will remain in force until December 17.

On Friday, 18 patients with COVID-19 were admitted to St. Olav’s hospital. Three of the patients are in the intensive care unit, and on respirators.
