According to AFP, Instagram is no longer available in Russia as of Monday.

Russian authorities have reacted strongly to the fact that Instagram’s parent company Meta has decided to allow incitement to violence against Russian forces in certain areas on its platforms and has announced that access to Instagram would be cut off in Russia.

According to AFP journalists in the country, the Instagram app would not load new content on Monday without a VPN connection.

The social network also appeared on a list of “restricted access” websites published by Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor.

Several other social media sites are also blocked or restricted in Russia, including Meta-owned Facebook.
