The Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi) asked Norwegian municipalities to receive 5,025 refugees in 2021. This year, the need for housing has been significantly lower than IMDi first thought.

A total of 211 municipalities have now received a request from IMDi to provide housing for refugees next year.

At the same time, the Directorate emphasizes that the corona situation leads to significant uncertainty about how great the need will actually be.

The IMDi points out that the municipalities were originally asked to take in 5,120 refugees in 2020.

Then came the corona pandemic, and now updated forecasts show that there will probably only be a need to distribute 3,600 refugees this year.
