Interpol predicts a sharp rise in crime as criminals try to steal precious coronavirus vaccines.

“While the vaccines are being rolled out, crime will increase dramatically. We will experience thefts and burglaries of vaccine warehouses and attacks on shipments,” Secretary-General Jürgen Stock in the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) told the German weekly magazine WirtschaftsWoche.

He also expects more corruption in an attempt to gain faster access to the vaccine.

In addition, there is also a fear of sabotage from vaccine opponents.

Pfizer and Biontech’s vaccine has already been approved in 16 countries and is expected to get approved by the EU Medicines Agency on Monday.
