Oslo City Council chief Raymond Johansen (AP) shares a lot of details on the conflict with Health Minister Bent Høie and the Directorate of Health in his new book about the corona situation.

Johansen describes how, late on Friday, September 25, the Oslo City Council was “suddenly” sent a list from the Directorate of Health with measures they thought should be introduced, he writes in the book.

The number of infection cases in Oslo had then risen steadily to 200–300 infected people per week. The figure would hardly make headlines later in the pandemic, Johansen believes.

“But in the first autumn of the pandemic, 300 infected people in one week were enough to whip up a political situation, where the Health Minister threatened to introduce state measures in Oslo if the City Council did not do as he wanted,” he wrote.

“It surprised me that we ended up in that situation,” he added.
