English residents will be able to get tested for COVID-19 twice a week free of charge, and the rapid tests will be offered at local test centers, schools, and workplaces.

More testing is needed to safeguard the progress made in the vaccine work while the country’s restrictions are gradually eased, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.

“That’s why we are now launching free rapid tests for everyone throughout England. It helps us stop outbreaks so we can socialize with the people we love and do the things we enjoy,” Johnson said.

Until now, free rapid tests have been reserved for vulnerable groups.

Companies with more than ten employees can request rapid tests for their employees, and regular testing must also continue in schools.

People can also test themselves at their local test station or order the tests at home.
