Karmøy: Man dies after jumping into the sea to save a boy

A 37-year-old man died on Tuesday night after jumping into the sea at Karmøy on Sunday to save a boy in the water.

The man was transported to Haukeland University Hospital but was confirmed dead last night, the Southwestern Police District wrote in a press release on Wednesday.

The boy was rescued.

The deceased man was identified as 37-year-old Jacob Opheim. His relatives have been notified, and the police are releasing his name in consultation with them.

The boy, who was conscious, was taken care of by ambulance personnel.
