King Harald was admitted to Rikshospitalet on Friday morning, according to the Royal House of Norway.
The king is on sick leave in connection with his hospitalization.
King Harald’s admission to the hospital means that Crown Prince Haakon will lead the cabinet of ministers on Friday.
“We currently have no more information than what we shared in the press release. The Crown Prince Regent will be leading the cabinet today,” communications manager Guri Varpe told news bureau NTB.
King Harald and Queen Sonja were scheduled to appear at Maihaugen in Lillehammer at 4:00 PM on Friday to mark the finalization of the queen’s childhood home at Tuengen allé 1b.
At the moment, it’s not clear whether the event will be affected by the king’s admission to the hospital.
