King Harald inspected hundreds of royal guards in full parade regalia in Huseby Leir on Friday.

“For us in the Royal Guard, it is a great honor that the king takes the time to visit his own bodyguards each year. The Royal Guard is the only military department inspected by the King in this way, and it makes us proud,” says Lt. Col. Jan Fredrik Gein, commands of His Majesty the King’s Guard.
After the inspection, the king attended a parade lunch hosted in the officer’s mess hall. The Crown Prince was also present during the inspection of the guard.
This year, the “King’s Watch” award went to Organ Sanlioglu in the patrol and sniper squad. The award is annually presented to a guardsman who has excelled in field discipline, duty, and attitude.
Lieutenant Cecilia Frøland Hagen, platoon leader of the First Platoon at the Guard Academy, received  the Proof of Honor at this year’s royal inspection. The Proof of Honor, a saber, is awarded for exceptional leadership.
Frøland is the first woman to receive this award.
