King Oscar is withdrawing several varieties of its sardines in tomato sauce after the discovery of pesticides in a raw material used in the product.

Ethylene oxide has been found in one of the raw materials, the company stated. The pesticide is prohibited for use in food in the EU and EEA.

It does not pose an acute health hazard but can be harmful if ingested in large quantities over time, according to King Oscar.

These products are withdrawn from the market:

* King Oscar Sardines in Tomato – Classic

* King Oscar Sardines in Tomato – Fine

* King Oscar Promo Sardines in tomato

* King Oscar Sardines in tomato 4-pack

The products are sold in grocery stores across the country. Those who have bought the product are asked to return it to the store where it was purchased and get a refund.
