Kjell Ingolf Ropstad formally resigned as leader of the Christian Democrats (KRF) at the national board meeting in Oslo on Friday.

Ropstad announced last week that he would resign as KrF leader and minister due to the revelations related to the “housing” scandal.

On Friday, party colleagues thanked Ropstad for his work. Olaug Bollestad will now act as party leader until the party has formally found Ropstad’s replacement.

Bollestad and Dag-Inge Ulstein have been singled out as the most relevant candidates for the position.

The newspaper Dagen states that there is agreement among the party’s county leaders to arrange an extraordinary national meeting as soon as possible.
