The KRF’s central board had an extraordinary meeting on Saturday afternoon after Kjell Ingolf Ropstad announced his resignation as party leader and minister. An agreement was reached to convene the national board for a meeting next Friday.

“There is an agreement in the central board that Ropstad will resign in connection with the national board meeting on Friday, September 24, and that Olaug Bollestad will become acting party leader,” the party wrote in a statement to NTB.

The national board will decide on the further process at the meeting and possibly also convene an extraordinary national meeting.

“I want to thank Ropstad for his efforts for the party. As the first deputy, I am ready to step into the role of acting leader when needed,” Olaug Bollestad told NTB.

KRF’s second deputy leader, Ingelin Noresjø, also thanked Ropstad for his efforts. However, she added that she still thinks the decision to resign was the right one.
