Kripos sent 500 tips on cyber-abuse cases to Norwegian police districts in 2020. Last year, the number increased to 2,500, the newspaper VG reports.

Helge Haugland, section manager at the section for internet-related crime in Kripos, told VG that the amount of tips they have received has been stably high in recent years but points out that Kripos is able to handle more tips than before – and thus, more tips are also sent to the police districts.

“It has been even in the last three years, but from 2020 to 2021, we saw an increase from 500 to 2,000 more cases sent to the police districts,” Haugland said.

The police do not have an exact number of how many children in Norway are exposed to sexual abuse online.
