Kristiansand: Man sentenced to 12 years of preventive detention for murdering wheelchair user

A 61-year-old man has been sentenced to twelve and a half years of preventive detention for stabbing a wheelchair user in Kristiansand in December last year.

67-year-old Harald Martin Andreassen was stabbed to death while sitting in a wheelchair in his home in Vågsbygd on December 10 last year.

According to the indictment, Andreassen was stabbed a number of times in several places on the body, and he died shortly afterward from the injuries.

The 61-year-old always denied killing Andreassen, but during the trial, he confessed to the crime, according to Fædrelandsvennen.

The man, who has previously been convicted of violence several times, has also been sentenced to pay NOK 240,000 in compensation to each of Andreassen’s seven children.
