Two men have been charged with the murder of 48-year-old Dan-Eivind Lid in October last year, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

Lid, who was active in the “Stop the Islamization of Norway” organization (SIAN), was found dead in his apartment in Kristiansand on October 3.

He died of suffocation, according to the indictment from Kristiansand District Court, NRK writes.

The trial starts on Monday.

Murder and robbery

On October 20, the police stated that they had arrested three men, all of whom were then charged with murder or complicity in murder. The third and youngest of the three arrested is now charged with robbing Lid.

NRK writes that the police believe he was in the car while the other two carried out the act of violence.

The motive is unknown, but police have said there is no reason to believe it was a politically motivated murder.
