Labor party getting higher popularity among immigrants

Labor party still has strong support among voters with immigrant backgrounds. In last year’s municipal elections almost six out of ten votes assigned to Labor Party, shown by the SSB examined results.

Furthermore, in recent studies Labor party clearly has been the preferable party among immigrants with Norwegian citizenship and Norwegian born by immigrant parents. Labor party has a support around 57 and 62 percent among two selected groups, while the party in general got 33 percent in municipal elections, shown by examined results.

Among second and third generation of immigrants there was only 1 percent who voted for the Progress Party or the Centre Party. The Progress Party and the Centre Party got 9 and 8 percent support in total. Right parties collected 23 percent of all voters including 13 per cent votes of Norwegian-born by immigrant parents.
