The shortage of medical specialists in Norway has doubled in three years. This is especially true of the smaller hospitals.
In total, the NAV believes there is a shortage of 1,200 such specialists, according to NRK Dagsnytt.
“There is not a single hospital where there are no recruitment problems in some specializations. We probably have a bigger problem in smaller hospitals. It is a growing problem,” Kristin Kornelia Utne in the Young Doctors’ Association (Ylf) told the channel.
The Ministry of Health and Care Services confirms that the issue is a growing problem. On Wednesday, the NAV included medical specialists on the list of occupational groups for which there is the most significant shortage of labor in Norway.
