Gjerdrum Municipality receives NOK 20 million from the government to cover expenses after the quick clay landslide.

The Municipality applied for an advance on compensation, which the government has granted, the Norwegian government stated in a press release.

“Even though the Municipality has made a formidable effort so far, they should not stand alone in the reconstruction of the local community,” Minister of Local Government and Modernization Nikolai Astrup (H) noted.

Gjerdrum will now receive an advance on discretionary funds, which are usually paid in arrears when the costs are known.

The Ministry of Local Government and Modernization also stated that further compensation would be assessed later.

Seven people have been found dead in the landslide area in Ask, and three people are still missing.
