Landslide search efforts in Gjerdrum extended

The landslide search efforts for the three missing persons in Gjerdrum, which was originally intended to end on Friday, will continue next week.

The police state that a new assessment was made on Thursday afternoon. 

The police now find it appropriate to expand the search area.

“This means that the search work in the landslide pit will continue next week. 

“Among other things, there are several building remains that we want to investigate before the relevant areas are considered cleared. 

“We think that we need extra work on this,” police superintendent Anders Mansaas in the Eastern Police District noted in a press release.

On February 2, it was announced that some of the residents who live near the edge of the landslide in Gjerdrum may have to wait for one to two years before they can move back.
