Enormous amounts of ice threaten to destroy both houses and caravans on Breim in Gloppen Municipality in Nordfjord.

The danger is associated with the sudden change of weather, with a lot of precipitation and a sharp rise in temperature. Large amounts of ice have loosened and are now blocking the Breimselva, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) writes.

Joar Flølo told NRK that the ice blocking the river is three to four meters high at some places.

The campsite has been evacuated, and several caravans have been driven away.

Flølo says there is a great danger that the accumulated ice could be released and hit the campsite and that they are working to bring in excavators to divert its course.

However, the work cannot start until the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has given the green light to the process.
